Actor Tyrese Gibson turned himself in on October 3, 2025, after authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, issued a warrant charging him with cruelty to animals. He was booked and released the same day on a $20,000 bond.
The case stems from a September 18 incident in Buckhead, where Gibson’s four Cane Corso mastiffs allegedly escaped his property and savaged a neighbor’s small dog—a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry. The dogs were seen on ring-camera footage near the victim’s home shortly before the attack.
Neighbors had reportedly complained multiple times about Gibson’s dogs roaming free in the area. Police say Gibson was given a deadline to surrender the dogs by September 22, but he delayed, prompting the issuance of the arrest and search warrants.
Gibson claims he was out of town during the attack and expressed deep sorrow. His legal team says he has since rehomed the dogs and is fully cooperating with authorities.
The case underscores serious liability for owners of large breeds. Authorities emphasise that failure to restrain dangerous animals—even unintentionally—can lead to criminal charges when someone else is harmed.
