While home with my newborn, the doorbell rang while I was pumping, so I ignored it.
Minutes later, I heard a stranger talking to my husband downstairs. He rushed upstairs, grabbed the baby, and said, “Sorry, I didn’t know they were coming!” It turned out his boss and wife had shown up with a baby gift.
Still attached to the pump, I finished and went to put on lotion. My husband came back, upset that I didn’t come down to greet them, calling me rude and saying it made things awkward. He wasn’t home when they arrived and felt embarrassed explaining my absence.
