Country music legend George Strait is grappling with the heart-wrenching loss of two beloved members of his musical family on the same day.
Strait announced the passing of his longtime manager, Eugene Ervine “Erv” Woolsey, and his band member, Gene Elders, in a heartfelt post on his Facebook page.
Erv Woolsey, who had been managing Strait since the early 1980s, passed away at the age of 80 due to complications from surgery.
Woolsey was not just a manager but a close friend who played a pivotal role in shaping Strait’s illustrious career. Strait expressed his deep sorrow, saying, “Won’t ever be the same without him.”
Gene Elders, a cherished member of Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band since 1984, passed away just hours after Woolsey.
Elders, who played fiddle and mandolin, was a significant part of Strait’s sound and live performances. Strait shared, “Me and the band won’t ever be the same without our brother Gene. We loved him so much.”
The dual loss has left a profound impact on Strait and his fans, who have been sending their condolences and support.
Both Woolsey and Elders will be remembered for their immense contributions to country music and their lasting legacies.
